So you are female and want to learn to ride a motorcycle? Check out the new schools that employ female driving instructors. They are much better educated as a female to teach other females the true art of riding a motorcycle. It is a talent that men teach differently. I went to our local class sponsored by the school district. There was a class for and taught by females. What a difference. I had taken the male class several years ago and never did get the proper handling procedures. The guys presumed we had enough muscles to handle the cycle. Their words words if you are not strong enough you should not be here. Well true enough but also not totally accurate.

The female driving instructors took class in a whole new direction. They found what strengths we did have and went with it. The main difference between the male and the female driving instructors was the true desire to let us be on the road and learn to be safe. We as females do not always need to be the passenger. Let us be the driver!

We do have strengths, we just need to learn to use them. We also do not need the heaviest, fastest, most decked out, most expensive cycle on the market. Color is important! After that go for what you are capable of handling. Start small. You can always trade up in the market.

Even the basic skill of starting the engine was not presumed that we knew how to do it. How to fill the gas tank. All the common sense items the guys might already know. The entire class of females was taught the skills from the basic to the most technical. After the initial orientation ,helmet instruction and insurance check we are off to turn on and off our own cycle. Got it! OK now we are off to a slow trot around the parking lot. Some of us got all the way around and some are still at the starting point. No casualties yet! And at the slower pace we are not in a hurry to hit the streets.

After we all handle the parking lot we branch out to the small streets. It takes many lessons before we even want to master the large highways and the class is longer in duration. But it is worth every moment of it when we all in 100% participation by 100% female driving instructors we earn our motorcycle endorsements safely.
