I left school and became a trainee mechanic dealing with all types of motor trade, my first your as a trainee went really well but I knew that during my second year I was going to have to put a lot more hard work into it as not only would I be training during work time but I needed to pass my driving test as what good would a mechanic be if he couldn't take the car he was fixing on a test drive, well that's what my boss said to me anyway.

One day a driving instructor pulled up in his car, he worked for driving school uk and my boss gave me a nudge as he pulled up and said why don't I ask him if he could give me some cheap driving lessons, and tell him that when you are a fully trained mechanic you might be able to do the car on the cheap for him, I couldn't understand if my boss was testing me or not because surely doing one of our regulars cars on the cheap would be taking money out of the business, so I decided against asking the driving instructor from driving school uk just in case my boss was testing me, but made a note of the number on the side of the car anyway so that I could give driving school uk a call later when I got home to find out how much their prices would be.

Later on that night when I got home I called driving school uk and spoke to them regarding their prices, they seemed really quite reasonable so I decided to book a lesson a week because on my trainee wages that was all I could really afford unless my mum and dad would let me off paying my keep and it was very doubtful that that was ever going to happen.

My first lesson was booked for Wednesday evening an hour after work to give me time to get home and get showered and changed so I didn't get oil and grease all over the instructors car.

On the dot my driving instructor pulled up and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it was the same one that pulled in the garage that day my boss had mentioned it to me, when I got in the car he recognised me immediately and we started chatting about this and that as he gave me my first lesson, at the end of the lesson to my surprise he said to me that if I had of asked him he would of given me driving lessons cheaper than if I booked through driving school uk and then maybe I could of repaid him later on by fixing his car on the cheap, I couldn't believe it my boss had been right all along.
